The 2018-2019 Kindergarten Registration for South Park Elementary Center has begun
. In order for your child to be eligible for Kindergarten, the student must reach the age of five (5) before September 1, 2018.

The schedule for South Park’s registration is a step by step process that is fun and exciting for the students and informative for the parents.

Below you will see important dates and times. Please make sure you follow every step of the process to be properly registered. Please complete the pre-registration form (the link can be found on the left side of this site.) The Kindergarten registration site can be found by clicking on the parents tab at sparksd.org.

  1. Registration packets will be available to pick up at South Park Elementary Center between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  2. When you pick up your packet you will be asked to register for our Student Readiness Screening. The dates of the screenings will be April 30 or May 1.
  3. In August (date to be determined) we will hold our annual Kindergarten Bus Orientation and Meet the Teacher Event. This is about a 1 to 2 hour event where every kindergartner who attends gets to visit with the kindergarten teachers and also ride a school bus around our community.

Your child must have received the following vaccinations before entering school:

(All dosing and spacing requirements set forth by the PA Department of Health must be followed)

4 doses of DTP (1 dose must be on or after the 4th birthday)

4 doses of the Polio vaccine (1 dose must be on or after the 4th birthday)

2 doses of MMR (1st dose must be after the 1st birthday)

3 doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine

2 doses of the Varicella Vaccine (1st dose must be after the first birthday) or a written statement from a physician indicating month and year of disease or serologic proof of immunity.

NEW THIS YEAR:  Allegheny County Health Department Universal Blood Lead Level Testing. All students entering Kindergarten will be required to receive a blood lead level test. Each child shall be tested between 9 and 12 months and again at approximately 24 months. If the child did not have his/her blood tested at those times, then the child is to have the test done as soon as possible but before entrance to Kindergarten.

All students entering school will also be required to have a physical and dental exam dated within one year of entering school. If you are going to the doctor prior to registration, you can find the medical forms to be completed for your child’s physical/dental exam on our web site at sparksd.org and by clicking on Health Services under the Departments tab.

You will also need a birth certificate for registration.
